A Week Too Late…

So I finally found the perfect Christmas gift for all those book/star wars fans on my Christmas gift list. Unfortunately for them, I found this a week too late so I guess I’ll just have to find a way to get one for myself for my birthday. Let the squirrelling away begin… =)

A set of these stylish bookends can be yours for the reasonable (cough, choke, sputter…) price of only $115 over at Think Geek if you’re so inclined.

Line Rider Is Just Fun

In celebration of the fact that Line Rider is coming to the Wii and DS, I thought I’d post another great Line Rider vid from the depths of the YouTube vaults. Unlike many of the other Line Rider videos that seem to take on an alpine-esque sort of theme, this one tends to be a bit more… urban. I just love how these guys are able to wrap a whole world around their little sleigh-bound adventurers. Enjoy…

A New Hope… In ASCII

Man… some people must just have gobs of unused time to waste. Take, for example, the dudes that decided to code Star Wars: A New Hope entirely in ascii and then make it available via telnet. This is truly an amazing feat to behold…

To view this masterpeice in its entirety, open a new Run dialog in Windows (click “Start”, then “Run…”). Next, paste the following into the text box:

telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl\

Finally, hit enter, then sit back and enjoy the show.

Pretty Christmas Lights… Sorta

I’m sure this is not healthy for your microwave, but as with most other microwave tricks, it sure looks nifty. If I wasn’t worried about having to drop on a new microwave after attempting this, I’d totally rush home and try it now. It’s as good a use for all those messed-up burn attempts as I can think of.

Minor Updates Today

Well, you if you haven’t been frequenting the ModStomp galleries you probably won’t notice the minor changes made today. For those of you who do though (hehe… as if), I’ve fixed a few minor issues I’ve been having with the Falbum plugin. Overall, Falbum is an awesome plugin that creates a sweet gallery page for all your flickr photos, but as with all things wordpress, it has to be customized a bit for each theme.

The first issue I was having was that the WordPress sidebar would break once you clicked into an album. For any out there that care, this was being caused by the fact that the album pages didn’t have a page ID so WordPress didn’t see them as static pages. There’s a fix on the Falbum wiki pages so it wasn’t a huge deal to correct, but it took a while to figure out what the issue was and then to find the fix.

D.A.R.E. To Keep Kids Off Sith

Here’s a pretty funny Star Wars parody of an old anti-drug ad. It’s never too early to talk to your kids about the dangers of Sith.

Warning: Guitar Hero Can Hurt Your Baseball Career

In addition to the impact Guitar Hero has had in all our lives, it also found a way to impact the ALCS during this past year’s baseball playoffs.  Turns out Tigers pitcher Joel Zumaya was suffering from a strange forearm inflammation, which happened to be more consistant with guitar playing than with pitching.  According to the story in the Detroit Free Press, once Zumaya stopped playing, his pitching was back on track.  Baseball/rock legend wannabes, consider this your warning.  You’re gonna have to choose.

Bioshock Sure Looks Purty…

Purty intense that is. This game looks to deliver some serious creep factor along with all those nifty water effects. We’ll have to see if I can repress my inner wuss sufficiently to make it all the way through this one.

Mr. Rogers Sheaths The Sword

Despite what the title of this post could possibly imply, it’s not what you perverts may be thinking. The title is actually a semi-vague, somewhat distorted reference to Robert Jordans The Wheel of Time series which I’m currently about half-way done reading (although this post doesn’t really have anything to do with that either). It does, however, directly relate to Mr. Fred Rogers and his title as Champion of the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny.

Now, you may be asking what that title means and how our beloved trolley engineer may have come to hold it. Don’t worry… I too was unaware of the fact that it was even possible for Mr. Rogers to hold such a title. Lucky for you though, the video below explains everything…

Now, if you’re seen this video before, shame on you for not informing me. If you haven’t seen it, then I’ll consider this my good deed for the day. I feel that it’s important to know that Chuck Norris can indeed be defeated (despite the fact that a Chuck Norris delivered roundhouse is the preferred method of execution in 16 states).

Merry Christmas From Nintendo

Say what you want about Nintendo, but they know how to make stuff fun. Take, for instance, their Interactive Advent Calendar. Instead of opening a tab each day in December to find a fun picture or delicious candy, they provide you with a new mini-game each and every day. So head on over to Snowdriftland for some fun Holiday season adventures.
