You Got A Permit For That Thing?

In our ongoing search for the sickest case mods on the planet, Zach stumbled across this fine piece of fabricated genious.

As a teenager, my mom often accused me of housing a nuclear waste dump in my room… oh how I wish I had had something like this back then to confirm her suspisions. It would have been an excellent addition to my toxic hazard of an excuse for a bedroom.

Props definitely go out the artist who was actually able to convince a few parts manufacturers to build custom gear for his box. And although this may not be as artistically stunning as the Doom III box I’d love to show up to a lan party with this bad boy ticking down till ‘launch’.

Straight Up Old Skool…

If you like Quake (should be pretty much everyone that hits this site), and if you like paper models (not sure who falls into that category), then you’ll love these babies.

This seems to be another case of somebody having way too much time on their hands, but once again, the results rock. These seem like they would make excellent desk art, which I whole-heartedly condone. People always ask me about the ‘crap’ on my desk, but once I’ve explained who Todd McFarlane is and how Spawn could kick their ass if he wanted to, they generally leave me alone.

Well, enough wandering… check out the pics by clicking below:

My love/hate relationship with iRiver

So I got the shiny new U10 a couple of weeks ago, and all were amazed by the wonder and beauty of it. The dock is a near-perfect implementation, and my only gripes with the player are the sort of sluggish menus, no album art (I like album art, sue me), and the small memory size.

Well, those iRiver dudes went and launched their update to this player, the iRiver clix. 2gb, cheaper, album art, updated interface, etc. At least it works with the dock for the U10. Here’s a pic.

E3 Insanity! Is The Wii For Real?

Its that special time of year again when gaming geeks can travel to the mecca of the gaming world that is E3. We ModStompers would give just about anything to be there, but unfortunately we have jobs in the ‘real-world’ that require our attention. Maybe next year though.

Our non-attendance aside, and with the 3 major keynotes still hanging in the smoggy air of LA, we thought we’d share our thoughts on the whole ‘Who will win?’ question.

Beware the Evil Lord… Dorkman?

Found this YouTube vid on the blog of a friend of a friend of a friend of a…. you get the point.

Wow and wow – the wonders of water’s expansion and condensation

The Armatron, a silly eletronic nerd toy from the past. How could it possibly be improved? By switching it to old-timey steam power, of course. Click the pic for details.

The Scoop on Enemy Territory: Quake Wars

The guys over at Shacknews got a unique opportunity to ask the guys at Splash Damage some questions about the upcoming Enemy Territory: Quake Wars and they didn’t dissapoint. They provided some sweet inside info on what we can expect.

For Quake fans (and multi-player shooter fans in general), Quake Wars represents a milestone for the Quake franchise. And just as Quake 3 Arena redefined how we think of multi-player frag-fests, Quake Wars is shaping up to blow our minds again. With new ‘MegaTexture’ technology and a new perspective on the genre, this game will be one to watch for.

Check out the Shacknews Interview for a first hand preview of what may be one of this years best games. They’ve also got some super-nifty screenshots that will blow you away.
