Here at the Modstomp Manor we’ve got a hankering for tiny mp3 players. I go through about 6 a week. With that in mind, watch for me to pick up one of these in the next couple of weeks. Gizmodo has some details on the new Zen Stone Plus in all its tiny OLED glory, so take a look. Expect some follow-up from us down the road.

So we’ve been hearing a lot about Apple and one of their new products. Some might even go so far as too say there’s a little “hype”, or, if you will, “excitement” in the Apple fanboy community about the upcoming iPhone, whatever the hell that is.
For some of us, one post with features, pricing, and a release date would probably have been enough. Maybe another post with some video. Even the WWDC post from Steve “Mussolini” Jobs would have been fine. For those like us, engadget has made special RSS feeds which exclude all iPhone news, and even one excluding all Apple news if you’re really pissed. Since there’s not a filter option in Google Reader (yet), we owe our gratitude to these thoughtful folks for making our blog reading a little less apple scented (at least until the iPhone Rapture comes).

Gizmodo had this posted today. Not much more needs to be said; now, go forth and build me one!
In a moment of complete randomness this morning (triggered by who the crap knows what), I ventured out to Wikipedia to learn the origin story of the phrase “let me show you them” which is now quite commonplace in the blogosphere. Much to my dismay (and surprise I might add), Wiki had no such entry. Usually Wiki is the one true source for all things random and internetty, but today it has failed me (for the last time. Mwahahahahaha!!!).
Anyways, anyone know where this silly phrase came from? It’s most often used in connection with Pokemons and cats, but I just have this unnatural desire to know from whence it emerged. Any help would be appreciated.
My Father’s Day gift was one of those little Air Hogs Havoc Heli RC helicopters. I’ll cut to the chase: buy the darn thing. Best $30 you can spend, and they’re available at your local Walmart or on thinkgeek.com. My kids love it, my cats love it, and I love it. It takes a little tweaking and practice to get any kind of control, and you’re not going to do any Coast Guard-style precision rescues with it You’ll probably fly it into someone’s eye, but that’s half the fun. So, details. It’s tiny and very light. It’s a little more sturdy than I expected; it’s not going to break from a fall, and it doesn’t move too fast. The IR remote works quite well, and there’s even a trim control to keep you from going all dizzy. So if you saw this thing at the store, and you thought there’s no way and RC helicopter that cheap could be any fun, you’re wrong. By the stupid thing; you won’t regret it.
So I guess the question is “When do we actually get to buy these for our nerdy cubes?”
While I appreciate all the cool designs, people, let’s work on actually getting some stuff to production. Where we won’t buy it, because we’re cheap and lazy.
Two of my favorite shows mashed together into one hilarious half hour of space comedy goodness. I command you to watch this on June 17th at 10 pm on Cartoon Network. You won’t be sorry.
Ok… so Guitar Hero doesn’t technically have a “God-Mode” or “God” related difficulty level, but if it did… it would exist specifically for this guy. I bow to his utter Guitar Hero god-ness and plan to pray to him nightly as he sits upon his Fender made throne at the top of Mount Strat.
So I just watched the latest gameplay trailer from the new game “The Darkness” and I have to admit that I found it a tad disturbing. Now, I want to preface the following comments by saying that I’m a huge first-person shooter fan. I’ve been playing fps games for over 10 years and I’ve played a wide variety of games in that time. Some of those games include the following (some of which may not technically be fps, but close enough):
Counter-Stike (all hail the headshot king)
Unreal Tournament
Goldeneye
Quake (all of em)
Doom (didn’t really like 3, but I played it a bit)
Max Payne (1 and 2)
Hitman (1 and 2)
Painkiller
And the list goes on. More than a few of those games could easily be considered pretty high on the violence-o-meter. However, in all the time I’ve spent playing them, I’ve never had quite the reaction I did to the latest clip of “The Darkness”. Hit the jump to watch the vid and get my thoughts.
