DS Game of the Week: Mario Hoops 3 on 3

Well… as I predicted, I’ve been somewhat of a failure at posting the DS game of the week on a weekly basis. But in my defense, my real job has been quite demanding the last month or so. To tell the truth, I actually have a whole list of stuff to post, I just need to find the time to actually do it. But anyway… on to this weeks DS game.

In a fit of boredom last week, I decided to try out a few DS games that I’ve had laying around for a while and have never taken the time to play. I can’t say for sure why I hadn’t tried this game until now, but I think it was mostly due to the fact that I didn’t have very high hopes. I realize that it got reviewed pretty well and I realize that most Nintendo games that revolve around first-party characters and themes are usually decent games. But every now and then, the touchscreen seems to “get in the way” a bit for me. For instance… Metroid Prime: Hunters reviewed pretty well and I know a few people who enjoy it, but I just couldn’t get into it. I’m just too much of a keyboard-mouse person when it comes to fps games I suppose. Anyway, I was a little worried that the touchscreen would just be gimmicky… boy was I wrong.

The Dragon Case

Here’s another slick case from the guys over at Extremetech.com. Apparently they’re having a case mod contest and this was another of the winners (along with Optimus Prime below).

There have been a few wood cases that have popped up over the past couple years, but you can tell that some serious time went into this one. I especially like this particular case because of the custom ninja star fan grills. I mean… who can deny the supreme awesomeness of ninjas? Not me.

Autobots! Let’s…. compute?

Holy freaking mother of all things nerdy!

I’ve seen a few case mods in my day, but I think this one takes the cake. Not only is it a fantastic representation of our good buddy Optimus, but it’s also one of the largest pc cases I’ve ever seen standing at about 6″10′ when fully assembled (yeah… that’s six feet ten inches) and weighing in at around 125 lbs. And I thought my case was a pain to drag to lan parties. Head on over to ExtremeTech.com to check out several other pics as well as the specs on the machine that keeps the Leader of the Autobots up and running. Just hope he’s got sufficient cooling cause you’d hate to see him freeze up in the middle of a heated battle with Megatron.

ThinkGeek Delivers Office Transport

Spotted these in my email update from ThinkGeek.com where they send me the latest nerdery available.  I can think of dozens of uses: mostly ninja work, I suppose, where you’d glide silently like a ghost (a freaky Asian ghost) and impale people with fun weapons.  Maybe I could rig something up with my little desk fan, too. . .
