Minor Updates Today

Well, you if you haven’t been frequenting the ModStomp galleries you probably won’t notice the minor changes made today. For those of you who do though (hehe… as if), I’ve fixed a few minor issues I’ve been having with the Falbum plugin. Overall, Falbum is an awesome plugin that creates a sweet gallery page for all your flickr photos, but as with all things wordpress, it has to be customized a bit for each theme.

The first issue I was having was that the WordPress sidebar would break once you clicked into an album. For any out there that care, this was being caused by the fact that the album pages didn’t have a page ID so WordPress didn’t see them as static pages. There’s a fix on the Falbum wiki pages so it wasn’t a huge deal to correct, but it took a while to figure out what the issue was and then to find the fix.

Links Are Back! Boo-Yah!

With a little tweaking and a whole lot of copy-paste, the links page is back up and runnin. If you find a link that doesn’t work, please let us know. Also, if there’s a link you’d like to see added, submit it via the contact form and we may eventually get around to adding it.

Galleries and Reviews…

So I’ve been on a roll this week with updates and I’m happy to announce that the galleries and reviews are back up. Obviously the reviews need to be updated a bit and it seems that you can only upload about 30 pictures a month to Flickr unless you wanna pay em $25 a month (I may just bite the bullet on that one). But until then, enjoy the 2 half-full galleries I uploaded today.

Forum Is LIVE!!!

In a Dr. Frankenstein sorta moment yesterday, I was finally able to channel the evil spirits of All Hallows Eve and once again breath life into the monster that is the ModStomp forums. IT LIVES!!!

Not that anyone much cares, but here at the ModStomp cave, we’re a bit disillusioned that people actually visit this site. So please help to keep us jaded by taking a few minutes to saunter on over to the forums and leave a post or five. Your patronage is required as a part of your contract which binds your soul to the Dark One appreciated.

Slowly, But Surely…

Ok… so it’s been almost a month and we haven’t done crap with the site. We’re sorry, we really are. We’ve just been busy.

We’ve actually been working on several other projects which have been taking up our ModStomp time. Zach has 2 new blogs which he’s actually been updating (GASP!) semi-regularly. And I’ve been working on a couple other contracted pages for friends (I actually get paid for those ones). Needless to say, we haven’t had as much time to update as we would like. But don’t fret, we haven’t forgot about ModStomp. As you can see we’re sorta kinda working on a look for the page. I’m still trying to figure out how to accomplish a decent looking navigation without the use of images. Please let me know how bad you think it sucks so I can continue tweaking it.

On a side note, if you’d like to see where all my time has been spent lately, check out SearcherAndStallion.com. These guys produce a pretty killer sci-fi radio show and are currently working on a new version of the show. Back in the early 90′s they used to broadcast their show on a local public radio station in Salt Lake. It’s been some time since they’ve aired the shows and they’re working to kick out an entirely new series (based on the original characters). If you enjoy audiobooks or radio drama, head on over and check out the sample mp3′s and podcasts we’ve got posted. It’s good stuff.

Anyway, please keep checking back. We really are working on getting the site back up and running. We promise.

ModStomp 3.0

Welcome friends…

After over a year using our version 2.0 setup, we’ve decided it’s time to try something new. Not that we didn’t like version 2.0, we just can’t go too long before we feel the need to mess with stuff. For version 3.0 we’ve decided to go a completely new direction and use WordPress to build the site. Version 2.0 was all hand crafted using asp, which means 2 things…

1. we had a hard time letting go of something we’d worked so hard on and

2. it was pretty flimsy.

WordPress offers much more security and options built right in and it also offers us the opportunity to learn PHP.

Anyway… please be patient as we import our backlog of articles and reviews. We hope to post more often and get some more galleries and review content up fairly quickly so check back often.

Games We Play…

Ever wonder what games we’re playing here at the ModStomp secret hideout?

Well, whether you do or not, now you can see what games are keeping us from all of our ‘adult responsibilities’. We’ve added a new page called… uh… ‘Games We Play‘ (original, I know). Just click on the the link in the nav on the left to read our opinions about all the games we’ve played over the years. We’ll also be adding the ability to leave comments soon so you can give us your opinions as well.

Lately we’ve been sortuv obsessed with Counter-Stike and have been spending a lot of time on the HostageDown.net servers. I’m also just about done with Half-Life II (shut up! I know I should have been done 6 months ago).

Comments, Comments and more Comments!

Hey all…

We’ve still got a few issues to iron out, but for the most part the blog comments are now live. Please be patient with us as we try to get this built out. We’re trying to do it ourselves (as opposed to using some pre-built blogging tool) and unfortunately, we kinda suck at it.

Please feel free to let us know how you really feel about our posts, the site in general or anything else you happen to feel the need to share. We love feedback (mostly only the positive kind) and we hope to receive a lot of it.

Thanks for your support,
The ModStomp Team

Halloween Gallery is up!

For those of you that have been playing Guild Wars over the past couple days, you’ve probably noticed a few changes to some of the environments. For those of you who haven’t been playing, I’ve posted a gallery of screenshots for you to bask in.

ArenaNet has created some sweet Halloween treats for all us loyal players including some fun and games with the Mad King. I was able to meet the Mad King last night and he gave me one of the coveted Pumpkin Helms (pictured below). You can see the rest of the changes to Lions Arch by visiting the ModStomp Guild Wars Halloween Gallery.

MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Gallery source is up!

Well, I still gotta load all the sweet pics, but the source code for the gallery is up and running. I’ll be adding pics over the next couple days and try to fill it out so there’s actually something to look at here.

We plan to have a few different galleries including some gameshot galleries and a casemod gallery. Unfortunately the current code doesn’t allow for public uploads, but if you have a pic you’d like to have considered for the casemod gallery, please post it in the forums and we’ll get it posted.

As usual, if anyone actually looks at this page and happens to have any suggestions, please let us know (forum is the best way to do that).
