Flash Game Frenzy!

WARNING!!!: The following post will reduce your productivity by exactly 76.284%.

Generally speaking, I’m not huge on flash games. For the most part, if I want to play a casual game, I turn to my trusty DS. However, every now and then I come across a flash game that intrigues me and I bookmark it in case I want to play again some time. Over the past few weeks I’ve gathered up a few of these links and I thought I’d do my part to make you as unproductive as possible. As with most flash games, these won’t keep you entertained long, but they can be a nice diversion during a long work day. So without further ado… and in no particular order:

1. Our first flash adventure is called Spaceworms. This game bares very little resemblance to the worms game we’ve all come to know and love (or loathe), but at it’s heart, its still just directing a “worm”-ish thing around the screen. In this case, however, you’re trying to avoid asteroid type objects that seem to be gravitationally drawn to you. The learning curve isn’t too steep, but I promise that you’ll loose almost instantly the first 5 or 6 times you try it. I don’t want to give too much of a hint, but we’ll just call this the “Barry Sanders” game.

Shockwave and Java are Cool!

I stumbled across this nifty site the other day and thought I’d share. It’s basically just a tech demo sorta page that shows off some of the cool stuff that this guy can develop in Shockwave and Java. There a couple games and a few little demo apps, but it’s kinda nifty to look over. One of my favorites is the free-flight app. you basically control a trio of paper airplanes that fly through the sky. Anyway… head on over and take a look.

Merry Christmas From Nintendo

Say what you want about Nintendo, but they know how to make stuff fun. Take, for instance, their Interactive Advent Calendar. Instead of opening a tab each day in December to find a fun picture or delicious candy, they provide you with a new mini-game each and every day. So head on over to Snowdriftland for some fun Holiday season adventures.

Play Quake III Anywhere!

Let me qualify that a bit… By “anywhere”, I actually meant “anywhere you have a decent internet connection and a browser with the latest Shockwave plugin installed”. Even so, this is pretty nifty.

A couple days ago we posted a site where you can play hundreds of NES titles via browser. Now we bring you “Browser Quake III“. You will need to have Shockwave installed, but it seems to be a pretty solid little plugin for those that can’t get enough of that sweet Quake III lovin (at work).

It Feels A Bit Like Winter…

It’s almost winter time… and with that comes fun winter sports. Skiing, snowboarding and sledding are among the first the come to mind. So, to get you all prepped for the sweet winter fun-ness ahead, here’s a nifty little flash time waster. Found this one on fsk’s profile on Deviant Art. Enjoy.

Games For Those “Slow” Days At Work

I was a tad bored at work today. Just not much going on. I mean sure, there’s probably stuff I could be doing, but darned if I could think of what it was. So off to the trusty old internet I go.

To expound a little on my post from a couple days ago, one of the webcomics I frequent is called Extra Life. The author, Scott Johnson, is a fellow Utahn and seems to share my avid love of games. I must admit that I’ve stolen borrowed experts from his comics before, but hopefully this little shout-out will redeem me of my past infringements. Anyway… I was cruising through his blog and came across a fun little flash game called 3D Logic. Long story short, my day got a little less boring.
