A New Hope… In ASCII

Man… some people must just have gobs of unused time to waste. Take, for example, the dudes that decided to code Star Wars: A New Hope entirely in ascii and then make it available via telnet. This is truly an amazing feat to behold…

To view this masterpeice in its entirety, open a new Run dialog in Windows (click “Start”, then “Run…”). Next, paste the following into the text box:

telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl\

Finally, hit enter, then sit back and enjoy the show.

The Transformers Atrocity

Every now and then I see things that take me back to that wonderful time that was my childhood. Hot Wheels, G.I. Joe, Voltron, Robotech (Macross for you purists), He-Man, Scooby Doo, G-Force (Battle of the Planets), Micro Machines… the list goes on and on. And then there are times I see things that threaten to pull down and destroy all those warm fuzzy memories and blast them into utter oblivion. Queue the new Michael Bay Transformers movie…

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve got high hopes for this flick. But each time more information is leaked I sink further into that pit of despair and wonder if I’ll ever be able to remember this series with the same fondness. At least it appears that they only made minor adjustments to Optimus’ head. Apparently he still has his characteristic antennae thingies.

Unfortunately the same can’t be said of Megatron. WTH??? And somehow Bumblebee is not a VW Beetle. It’s just wrong people. It sorta makes me wonder if Mr. Bay ever actually watched Transformers. Your thoughts?
