Plasmid Considerations…

I tried the Bioshock demo over the weekend and I have to say that I’m quite impressed with the look of the game. I’ve been pretty excited for this one and I must say that it looks as though I won’t be disappointed. I just wish I had little better graphics card than my aging 6800 so I could turn up the effects a bit.

However much I did or did not like this demo really isn’t the point of this post though. This post is more about Tim Buckley’s thought process. If I had to guess, I would think that most people would probably ponder how potentially cool it would be to wield the power of plasmids… but not Tim. His first thoughts apparently turn to the rather unfortunate side effects that come along with harnessing the power of the elements in the palm of your hand. Hence his comic for today

Nerdtacular Spidey 3 Event

Yesterday morning was the ExtraLife.com Nerdtacular Spiderman 3 event and it was awesome. It was a whole theater full of local ExtraLife fans (mostly from Utah) and one fan that traveled all the way from Tennessee to attend. Scott Johnson, ExtraLife.com creator and webcomic mastermind, was a great host providing free Spiderman comics (cause it was national free comic day), sweet ExtraLife.com t-shirts and other fun prizes including Nintendo shaped candy and World of Warcraft booster card packs.

One of the best things about this event was the size. We filled out a whole theater, but the atmosphere was still quite personal. I got to spend a few minutes chatting with Scott and you could tell he was pretty excited by the turnout. I didn’t want to take too much of his time because I knew he was busy, but he still took the time to walk my wife and I to our seats. What a guy. He also put his mad comic skillz to good use by drawing up some custom collectible tickets for the event:

Tim Buckley Cracks Me Up

Every now and then, Tim over at Ctrl+Alt+Del hits on that over-the-top sort of humor that any Mel Brooks fan can appreciate. On these occasions I can’t help but find myself laughing out loud (much to the confusion of my co-workers).

Today’s comic is another example of that. Having never played the game he’s poking fun at, I’d say that the comic is really only mildly funny on the whole. But the obsurdity of the situation depicted in the panel to right just cracks me up. Placed in a similar situation, any of us might ask ourselves… “WHY DO I EVEN HAVE THAT?!”

Maybe it’s just me, but I think that if you don’t find this even just a little funny, then you’re stupid. So there.

I Am Wha…? Chef Brian? Is That You?

Short post today. Just wanted to thank Tim over at CTRL+ALT+DEL for helping me express how I feel today with his excellent web-comic. I’ve used the exerpt below without permission so thanks in advance Tim, and please don’t sue me.

Tune in next week for more super-delicious-fluffy-gooey-goodness.

Sad, But True…

I was checking out the joystiq weekly webcomic round-up for last week and couldn’t help but laugh at the contribution from Concerned (a Half-Life based comic). There was some Counter-Strike love being spread around and it unfortunately rang true of the vast majority of the time I’ve spent on the Counter-Strike servers. I’ve ranted about the lack of courtesy online before, but I thought this was a rather humorous approach. Click the pic below to view the comic in question:
