iPod Nano to be swapped for Creative Zen Vision:M

Well, I’ve had my little iPod for a few months now. So naturally, I’m sick of it and I want a new mp3 player. The nano is great player, taken by itself; throw in iTunes, however, and it really causes me headaches. For one thing, all my media is stored on a Windows Media Center 2005 PC, so synchronizing involved making a second music library just for the iPod so iTunes wouldn’t frag my current library. Additionally, the iTunes interface really blows compared to WMP10, in my humble opinion. It’s a pain to cusomtize tags, make playlists, and organize music. It’s the Playskool effect – Apple tries to make things too easy by taking away control.

Anyway, check back over the next week or so for a report on the new Zen Vision:M, and we’ll see if I like it any better than I liked my last Zen.

  • I told you iTunes was the work of Satan, but noooo…. you wouldn’t beleive me.

If it wasn’t for the fact that you won your iPod I would have had to kill you.

    RockBox Rules!!!

  • WHOA PONY… Let’s simmer down for just a second.

I have to agree that iTunes is kind of a pain in the ass… using 3rd party open source software could be used to allow more control, but it’s still a pain in the ass.

I have all of my music organized neatly on my external hard drive and haven’t had a problem with either iTunes or WMP accessing it. iTunes knows who’s boss, so it doesn’t eff my files.

I wouldn’t go as far as saying that iTunes was the work of Satan. Mike told me that the ipod was the work of satan once… I don’t believe that. I think the iPod and iTunes are the work of Satan’s 3rd cousin, Craig.

  • Even so… Craig is still EVIL!!!!

  • And how do you figure that RockBox (3rd party open source software) is a pain in the ass? Have you used it yet?

I just flashed the good old iRiver iHP-140 with the latest RockBox build and it works like a champ. Install was a breeze and it’s tons better than the crappy iRiver firmware.

In fact… I’ll write a post/review outlining the many advantages soon.

    So there!

  • i have the creative zen vision:m and i totally love it. if you are wanting to copy your dvds(unprotected) to your zen i would highly suggest AutoGK it is a great program. So easy to use and it only took me a few hours to have the whole movie on my zen…plus it rips the movies in XviD or DivX. Can;t get better than that. i got the green one. i am not a huge ipod fan.
